Tutorial: How and why to build a website for your own branch from this CD.

This CD contains 31 branches of the Cutler family descendants of James Cutler, spanning 400 years.
As of July, 2006, there are nearly 450 of us living many of whom have up to 6th cousins, so it is becoming more difficult to keep track of so many people.
For that reason, we have "branch managers" who have volunteered to help keep in contact with their close family members and help maintain this work for future generations.

Every five years, the webmasters of CutlerFamilyHistory.com will contact branch managers to update this CD, including the contributions made by other branches.
Each branch manager is responsible for the update of information within his or her own branch. This can be in a written or web-page based format.

HOW TO BUILD YOUR OWN BRANCH WEBSITE:
Each branch can update information using standard Web editing tools. Get a family member who can create and update web pages, or hire a webmaster who can assist with a simple website.
To build a website of your own branch, delete the file named "Index.htm"
Open the file named "Index_cfh_members.htm" and delete all branches except your own, then save the file with the name index.htm.
Use standard html tags for text and graphics only. Many "bells and whistles" programs that display on web pages only work on a small percentage of computers and become unusable after a few years. This history is to last through the ages, so keep it simple.
